Abstract
Purpose: This study was conducted to investigate the effect of education about wear and care of contact lenses on subjective/objective symptoms and lens parameters induced by cosmetic colored soft contact lenses (hereinafter circle lenses) wear.

Methods: Twenty-five female high school students aged 17 or 18 year-old wore circle lenses for 2 weeks under the non-educational and educational status about lens wear and care, respectively. After wearing circle lenses, NIBUT(Non-invasive tear breakup time), blink rate, contrast sensibility, OSDI score and daily subjective symptoms evaluation were conducted and further analyzed. Furthermore, changes in overall diameter, light transmittancy and protein deposition of circle lenses were compared after collecting used lenses.

Results: The change of overall diameter, the decrease of light transmittancy, and the increase of deposited protein amount were significantly improved after the education on contact lenses wear and care. The education also improved NIBUT, blink rate, contrast sensibility and subjective symptoms.

Conclusions: It is suggested that the appropriate education on contact lens wear and care should be acquired to prevent the reduction of vision quality, and to lessen subjective/objective symptoms and change of lens parameters.
